Why Your Washer Is Vibrating

panasonic appliance repairYou expect your washer to do a lot of things. What you don’t want is a washer vibrating to a noticeable and/or audible degree. If your washer is vibrating, you should take steps to address the problem as quickly as possible. A shaky washer can be more than just a nuisance. It could be an indication that something more serious is going on with the appliance. Figuring out the specific cause of your problem, from the shock absorber, to the suspension/tub spring, can be extremely challenging.

It doesn’t have to be difficult in the least. Our experts at Max Appliance Repair can figure out what’s causing the washer to vibrate. It may be a solution as simple as leveling out the appliance itself, which is to put it on firmer ground. However, it could be something more serious.

The Shock Absorber

A shock absorber is responsible for dampening the movement of the tub during the spin cycle. As the name may suggest to you, the shock absorbers have to endure a great deal over time. It is not unreasonable that they can become worn-out over time. In many situations, the shock absorbers can break entirely from everyday wear and tear. When this happens, the dishwasher is going to vibrate while operating.

The Tub Spring And Suspension Spring

Suspension springs can suspend the tub assembly from your cabinet. They can also keep the tub assembly stabilized to your washer base. Absorbing vibrations during use, this spring can eventually become damaged. If too much damage occurs, this part of the washer can break entirely. This will cause your washer to lose stability, which in turn can lead to vibrating while it runs.

The Snubber Ring

You may have a washing machine which comes with a part known as a snubber ring. If this is the case, understand that this piece is responsible for diminishing the intensity of the vibrations that naturally occur during a cycle. Up to a certain point, a little vibration isn’t unreasonable.

However, if the washer is vibrating too much, the snubber ring may need to be replaced. If this is true, we can take care of that quickly and affordably. Contact us today for an appointment.
